We have a number of back-end services which use core.async fairly extensively, some of which have been in production for over a year.
They tend to utilise Netty (Java non-blocking networking framework) to serve/send requests, for example Alia (https://github.com/mpenet/alia) is an excellent Cassandra client which provides a core.async interface.
