LOL! I can confirm I am indeed male, and btw, in the wiki page maybe it says the same, it was also the name of an apostle and he moved to the eastern part of Europe to preach. That is probably why the masculine name is more popular in Europe...not sure though. I am going to read the link, thanks for posting and for clarifying the arcane mystery.
