Thanks Jeremy for the response. I was using clojure-1.7.0-alpha5 , parkour 6.2that looked was the original problem. After I changed the version to clojure-1.6.0 I got past that problem and hit a new set of problems. Marshall suggested that the issue could be because of mismatched hadoop-versions.
