A generalized threading macro, as->, is built into clojure as of 1.5 (I
wonder if clojuredocs.org having so much googlejuice while also being so
out of date makes this sort of thing harder to find):

(as-> "/tmp" x
      (foo x)
      (bar 1 2 x)
      (baz x 3 4)
      (quux 5 x 6))
