I'm sending authenticated emails via Mandrill with Postal and not having any trouble, and setting it up was pretty much a "smooth workable out-of-the-gate solution." If you describe the errors or issues you're experiencing someone may be able to help, but it's absolutely not the case that these libraries don't work.
