It looks like your example > is self-contained (need Clojure/lein + upstart, and that's it). The Ring server is listening on localhost (port 3000 by default). I've set up an apache reverse proxy that routes requests to the Compojure application. This gives a bit more flexibility e.g. if you have other services on the same machine, or want apache to serve static content directly.
