Thanks both for your answers. @Bob, I didn't know the existance of http-kit; seems promising. There is also a post 600k concurrent HTTP connections, with Clojure & http-kit<http://http-kit.org/600k-concurrent-connection-http-kit.html>, very interesting.
I also want to add to my own original question, that aleph is capable of doing synchronous and asynchronous requests with the same server and port. All you have to do is to use different endpoints, even though it's possible to have the same one as well.
