There's no reason to try to cram Clojure code through edn. Clojure's format still stands, and is useful. However, there are many aspects of the reader that are specific to Clojure code and only complicate implementations that don't deal with Clojure code. #(), @, #=, syntax-quote etc. Note that metadata will likely make it into edn.
