Do you really need Aquamacs? My experience is that it causes more trouble than it's worth.
I'd recommend using vanilla Emacs from [1] or building from source with the --cocoa switch. Vanilla Emacs on OS X got so good you don't really need Aquamacs anymore. Looking at the Emacs Starter Kit from Phil Hagelberg might be helpful too.
