You don't need to know Java, you just need to have it installed already. Have another look at the Clojure getting started wiki page that Phil linked [1]. Linked from that page are installation instructions and tutorials for Clooj and Leiningen. Those are generally where you will want to start if you are not familiar with emacs or any of the big Java IDEs.
