I'd disagree with that. Yes, there are a lot of Emacs users in the Clojure community but I think that's the Lisp bias rather than anything else. If you're working extensively with Java (as well), you'll want to either stick to IntelliJ or look at Eclipse + CCW. Emacs is a very different beast that takes a lot of getting used to.
