Hm, thanks for the reference to that groovy thread... an interesting read. I might take a stab at writing a *generate-stubs* patch to Clojure's compiler, just to see how hard it would be to do.
Out of curiosity, if Rich or anyone on the dev team reads this, is this the sort of thing that might possibly be a candidate for inclusion into the main Clojure compiler?
