Strangely, although I can replicate the problem in Hudson every time,
I am having trouble reproducing it as myself.

I'm using the same JVM on the same machine with the same version of
the code.

I've just scrubbed the Hudson Maven repository and rebuilt - problem
persists. Now I have scrubbed my own repo and am rebuilding. I'll post
what I find later.
