(comment ...) returns nil, which isn't always appropriate. (You can't use it to remove one of the (arglist body) forms of a defn, for example.) And using semicolons often requires you to move closing parens to the next line. Block comments work for this, but I consider them more verbose than necessary - maybe that's just me.
