I would like to make a comment that does not directly talk about your specific issue, but about error reporting in general. I would love to hear more opinions about Gradual Typing for Clojure. That would allow the compiler to catch errors before the program is actually run. Your example that you gave at some other point in this thread could have been caught during compilation.
