I do that in my user.clj and it works with the version of Clojure in Subversion as of this morning. I run it with a script that does this. CP=$CLOJURE_JAR:$CONTRIB_JAR:$BOOK_DIR:. ... java -cp $CP clojure.main --init ~/user.clj --repl -- R.
