I'm running a product called cleanmail (byteplant [dot] com) on a Debian
10.13 VM, which uses clamdscan to check incoming e-mails. Once a day,
one of my other VMs sends a very simple combination clear text/HTML
mail. Recently this has occasionally failed to appear in the target
mailbox. On checking, the clamdscan scan has been taking many minutes
to complete.
When I pull a copy of that mail and manually run clamdscan, it completes
almost instantly:
eddie@CleanMail:~$ date ; clamdscan CleanMail_672B506300010005.eml
--fdpass --no-summary ; date
Wed 06 Nov 2024 12:23:25 PM PST
/home/eddie/CleanMail_672B506300010005.eml: OK
Wed 06 Nov 2024 12:23:25 PM PST
eddie@CleanMail:~$
This is an almost identical email sent nightly, which until recently was
received like clockwork.
Any thoughts on how I can track this down as I can't predict when this
might next happen.
