Hi Sarah, Our clamav-announce emailer isn't supposed to require approval from the list admin in order to subscribe, thought it does require confirmation from an email so others can't just sign you up. It seems like that setting changed on its own somewhere around early October, 2023. I mostly didn't notice, because the clamav-announce mailer also requires approval for messages, and I've been filtering the spam requests. The last couple times that I've had to approve an announcement message, I've found some subscription requests pending approval, so I approved those at that time. That seemed to work okay, and I didn't think there was a subscription request expiration. Anyways, I did a little digging today and found the setting that I think is responsible for requiring subscription confirmation AND approval, hidden under "Privacy". I changed it to only require confirmation but not approval. I also manually subscrib ed your email address to the clamav-announce mailer. It should send you a welcome message. I'm sorry for the trouble. Regarding Discord, it appears you have successfully joined the server. I searched for your username and found we have the ClamAV server as a mutual server. Please can you help me complete subscribing to the Clam announce list. I completed the online process and received an email with instructions of how to confirm the subscription or the email address. I have received an email back saying that my confirmation is invalid and that my request will expire in three days . I thought I had followed the instructions by replying to the email to get the correct format that you needed in the subject bar. I then simply put confirmed in the message part of the email. I am having difficulty following through on any process that involves clicking on a link to take me to a web page to verify or complete something because the tablet that I am using for emailing to you will not open these links. I filled in the original online request using a computer that does not belong to me and does not have my email account on it and I cannot really use it for corresponding with you or following through on the process. I have several IT issues at present which is one of the reasons why I am wishing to set up clam AV on a fresh install of pop OS 22.04 on a system 76 Linux computer before I set up anything else like emailing and generally using the computer. I have also completed the online process to subscribe to clam Discord and have been asked to verify the request and the email by clicking on a link not replying to the email. As explained above the link does not work on this tablet so I am needing help to subscribe to this group as well. I have successfully subscribed to clam users list and received a welcome email in response and I was going to send this message to that forum but I'm now trying this owner list first thinking it might reach the right people possibly. The reason for me wishing to subscribe to these three forums is in order to reach out for some beginners level help in actually installing and using clam AV having read the documentation about it and many tutorials on it and still find I am uncertain how to do it correctly without mucking things up because despite using a Linux computer for 8 years I still can't seem to get a handle on using the command line confidently. Recently I had installed and was using the gui version clam TK but then I read that it is no longer maintained. I hope this message reaches someone who can help me subscribe to the announce list and to Discord and subsequently lead to me finding someone with the patience for answering some basic level questions on getting going with clam AV on Pop 22.04.
