Windows XP reached the end of its life six years ago. In my personal experience even during its lifetime it was a security nightmare, and there were threats against which ClamAV could never have protected it. I have seen Windows XP machines infested with over a thousand viruses. One of those machines was in what claimed to be a security company. It is irresponsible to use Windows XP for anything which exposes it to the types of threat against which you think ClamAV might protect it. If you do so then you will very likely be adding to the problems which the rest of us face, because the machine will almost inevitably become compromised by criminals, and then be used to attack other machines. It is unreasonable to expect any old version of ClamAV to do anything useful for Windows XP, and in many cases old versions of software just present new vulnerabilities which will never be fixed. Please give Windows XP the decent burial which it so richly deserves.
