https://www.clamav.net/documents/private-local-mirrors It's going to depend on how many clients you will be serving... 10 vs 10,000 is a huge difference in hardware requirements. Realistically though, no matter which route you take, it is just clients downloading static content at various intervals, which is not very CPU intensive.
