I’d like to amend my statement and say that you can exclude things, in a way, by using the --max-filesize option and similar options but it’s probably not what you’re looking for.
Clamd isn’t too tough to start up, and then you can run scans with clamdscan. The only downside is it will use a couple hundred megabytes of ram while clamd is going in the background. You could always run clamd when you’re ready to scan, and then kill it when you’re done with a scan so it’s not running all the time. Micah Snyder Software Engineer Talos Cisco Systems, Inc. We have a ticket for a feature request to add a --exclude option to clamscan, but we unfortunately don’t have the time to address it anywhere in the near future. I would like to set it up using aliases in the bashrc file, so I can do various kinds of file and directory scans from the command line. Rather than an unwieldy string of exclusions in the alias' command line, I would like to have a file that lists exclusions, which Clam would reference. I've seen mention of this ability, but not enough info to get me started. I do not have the daemon installed, just ClamAv, and FreshClam for updates. Thanks for any insight. paul _______________________________________________ clamav-users mailing list clamav-users@lists.clamav.net<mailto:clamav-users@lists.clamav.net><mailto:clamav-users@lists.clamav.net> http://lists.clamav.net/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/clamav-users Help us build a comprehensive ClamAV guide: https://github.com/vrtadmin/clamav-faq http://www.clamav.net/contact.html#ml _______________________________________________ clamav-users mailing list clamav-users@lists.clamav.net http://lists.clamav.net/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/clamav-users Help us build a comprehensive ClamAV guide: https://github.com/vrtadmin/clamav-faq http://www.clamav.net/contact.html#ml _______________________________________________ clamav-users mailing list clamav-users@lists.clamav.net http://lists.clamav.net/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/clamav-users Help us build a comprehensive ClamAV guide: https://github.com/vrtadmin/clamav-faq http://www.clamav.net/contact.html#ml
