The message is *already* in the user's mail box, and I'd say it should *not* be there in your scenario, because the user can pick up the bad mail simply by connecting other than through your gateway.
The original poster doesn't mention which IMAP server he's using. If it's Cyrus, cyr_virusscan is capable of scanning an entire Cyrus mailstore using ClamAV. cyr_virusscan comes with Cyrus but is not built by default.
