After cleaning up my starting routine with Boot-Up Manager in Trisquel 7 GNU/Linux, I got rid of a lot of strange shutdown messages from un-needed applications that appeared so briefly that I could not read them well, much less capture them.

However, now that things are under better control, I know that the second-to-last thing the system does is upgrade my ClamAV database by running freeclam. Then it says, "Starting tor daemon."

Why should that be ? I'm running ABrowser, but I've never invoked or used tor knowingly.

Is this last step a necessary part of the ClamAv operation ?
