That I believe is as you stated.  The only thing the man page says about 
clamd is that if the server is running, a clamd PING should return a PONG 
if the server is running, but it hangs till I ctl+c it.

Its now running with my procmail w/o any erros being logged, so we'll see 
what it catches. :)
