You have helped in some way, the fdpass option did make a difference in
that it allowed clamdscan to return the full filename. Before I was just
getting a file descriptor.
I can not run clamdscan successfully if I
* have the standard user, i.e. not root, as a member of the clamav
group
* or include these users in my sudoers file with the ALL=NOPASSWD
option
This wasn't the case when I first raised this issue. So progress and a
resolution has been made. At the moment not sure as to which of the two
options is preferable,
I've since discovered a third option and that is to install clamav on each of
the standard users that have a requirement for clamav - this is not my
preferred option but would be viable on a sigle user machine. This method
