Can you run freshclam with debug and verbose logging? Since debugging output goes to stderr, you'll want to pipe stderr to stdout (freshclam --debug --verbose 2>&1). Can you re-run clamscan with the same flags and with stderr piped to stdout? Please send me the logs of both programs.
