Yes, I do generally use -a when listing. > Also when running the 'cd' command you need to > type in the correct name of the directory. > For example: > cd /home/anne/.kde/share/apps/kmail/imap > ls -al > cd .1687036093.directory > ls -al > cd .INBOX.directory > ls -al > Now I think we are getting somewhere. There is, for instance INBOX and .INBOX.directory. Possibly, in fact I think probably, earlier I was looking at the wrong one. So - descend down the tree from there and all is well until I reach Newsletters, one of the two directories mention. There, ls -al total 24 drwx------. 2 anne anne 4096 Feb 18 2009 . drwx------. 37 anne anne 12288 Sep 1 15:48 .. No files are listed. Similarly, at the level above, .INDEX.directory, it says ls -al total 18140 and goes on to list directories and index files, but no messages. I know the messages are in ~/Maildir, so I'd really like to know what's going on here. OTOH, it's probably OT for this list, and I don't want to upset people by continuing with a thread they find irrelevant. Anne
