In the installer you can select "Cloud", "Cloud + ClamAV", or "Trial...". If you select "Cloud + ClamAV" then ClamAV is turned on by default. Either way you can manually turn it on in the settings. No, it is used for realtime protection too. Every virus detected by the local ClamAV engine is prefixed with "Clam."
