I use FreeBSD-8 myself; however, I think I know what you problem might
be. When you update a port via the ports system, it will usually not
over write an existing configuration file located in the
"/usr/local/etc" directory. It simply installs a new one, usually with
the name ".default" added to the file name. Since config files do
change between versions occasionally, it is a good idea to verify that
your existing one is correct for the newer version. There are many
options in the new 'clamd.conf', 'freshclam.conf' and
'clamav-milter.conf' that you will probably want to address if updating
from an earlier version.
