Yes, that was one of the errors. I changed the rights for /dev/null and the 
user running clamd could read it (was 600, changed to 660).
One other error, the init script was not the good one. I copied the file 
clamd/clamd to init.d, because I thought that's the one. Then I saw in FAQ that 
there should be a contrib/init folder. But in the tar source fille there's no 
contrib/init folder. If anyone knows why, could be useful. I got the file from 
the official site (the link is 
http://freshmeat.net/urls/c9bfa0aa2a4b8f3dc21e37debf0b05e5).

Are you running this in a chroot that doesn't have /dev/null?
