I don't know about the flow, but just 5 minutes ago I also had to disable a
signature.  The .FP file method didn't work for me either, but instructions
for the local.ign file did.

Entry in local.ign looks like this:

file_name_with_bad_sig:line_number_of_bad_sig:bad_sig_name
