There are other milters available that are more mature and feature rich than milter-clamav. You might want to consider using one. See http://milter.org/ for details. While other milters may offer more features it is not necessary that you use them all. I've been using J-Chkmail with great success for years in both very large and very small environments. I've explored others but none have the power, speed, feature set and simplicity.
