Hi,

First of all make sure you are using the volatile repository for Debian,
which has up to date packages that support incremental updates.
(in other words, avoid using 0.90, it can't cope with the amount of
signatures we have in the DB)

See: http://clamav.net/support/faq "I’m running ClamAV on a lot of
clients on my local network. Can I serve the cvd files from a local
server so that each client doesn’t have to download them from your
servers?".

I'd recommend setting up a caching proxy, and configuring freshclam to
use that.

Best regards,
