I have a distinct recollection (but no notes) that when I tried to build on 2.5.1 some few years ago it failed due to the use of calls not present in libc in that release. YMMV. SUNWspro doesn't work; gcc is required.
No singular problems since switching to solaris 10; there was one release about 12 or 15 months ago (??) that had some stability issues (which were quickly remedied).
