I've upgraded many times in the past without this problem. In a nutshell, I just did a configure, make and make install without uninstalling previous versions like I always have. This time, while clamav starts and runs with no errors, even in Verbose mode, it just doesn't work.
The SMTP server simply stops passing messages with clamav enabled. I did try an uninstall for both versions of clamav and then a fresh "make install", but that didn't fix anything (I have no way of "uninstalling" the many even older versions). I am running an old version of simscan (1.0.7), but the problem is also happening with an old version of qmail-scanner.pl. Both worked fine with every version of clamav up until this one.
