But the full path to both files are given above: /usr/local/etc/freshclam.conf and /usr/local/etc/clamd.conf. The problem is that the creators of Clam wants you to look over the config files before use so they demand that you at least change a tiny bit in them to make it run. If you look in the file (e.g. vi /usr/local/etc/freshclam.conf) you will at the top see this in both files: # Comment or remove the line below. #Example In my case example is commented as can be seen by the "#" in front of it, in your case you need to add the "#" or remove the line in both files to get it running. > 2) http://www.clamav.net/doc/latest/html/node13.html > This page talks about: > "Once you have created the clamav user and group, please extract the > archive: > $ zcat clamav-x.yz.tar.gz | tar xvf - > $ cd clamav-x.yz" > OK then, where is this archive?? Again, the instructions are for building from source, you have a binary package. > 3) http://www.clamav.net/doc/latest/html/node14.html > Tried to run ./configure --enable-milter and it failed looking for > libmilter > > checking for library containing strlcpy... no > checking for mi_stop in -lmilter... no > configure: error: Cannot find libmilter Configure is for compiling, whoever you got the package from already took care of this. You're reading documentation not meant for you. Start by getting freshclam and clamscan running manually. Then you can start thinking about clamd and milters. And stop reading that documentation. :-) -- Rita Rudner - "When I eventually met Mr. Right I had no idea that his first name was Always." _______________________________________________ Help us build a comprehensive ClamAV guide: visit http://wiki.clamav.net http://www.clamav.net/support/ml
