Well, given that I've used MRTG to monitor (amongst other things) the exchange rate from Norwegian Kroner to Japanese Yen, maybe there's just a bit more to the product than you think.
All you need to do is to write a script to generate the necessary info in the correct format. That's the bit that's missing. You need to process the log file, not just add it in as a parameter.
