In addition, if you have opted out of their emailings, they will provide your email address to their contacts. Those contacts have no opt-in or opt-out relationship with you, necessarily. They do this so those contacts will not send you email regarding the site's products and services. Pretty slick - your email address has just been distributed for your own good.
