OK, I did that, and the milter was the only item out of date, so I upgraded
that

Now, everything shows as v0.91.1, but freshclam still complains that it's
v0.90.3

Mailscanner --lint didn't show any errors

But, for some reason the binaries for clamav are in /usr/bin and
/usr/local/bin. Plus, MailScanner seems to be using clamav-wrapper which
calls clamdscan. In the MailScanner logs, it also talks how it has updated
the virus scanner. Does that mean freshclam is not needed?

Was clamdscan installed by MailScanner?

This is definitely confusing, and any help would be great

Thanks

You have installed Clam from two different packagers. Run the
following to see your Clam related rpms:

# rpm -qa | grep -i clam

Clean out the older ones with rpm -e. Always use packages from the
same source, if you change you have to clean up yourself, upgrade will
not work.

Look in /etc/MailScanner/virus.scanners.conf to see which path
MailScanner uses for Clam. You can also run "MailScanner --lint" too
see what it thinks of your configuration.
