Hello,
First freshclam works fine on my laptop. However before I got it working
I experienced something strange.
I installed Fedora 7 on june 2 and change/comments
the /etc/freshclam.conf file to make it not to be an example file. Then
I did the same with /etc/sysconfig/freshclam file (last line commented).
Last time I did this was on FC6 and since I don't remember precisely
what I did at that time, I don't know whether or not I did things the
right way ("by chance").
Here is what happened.
I have trouble with claws-mail crashing so I started last week-end to
run it with gdb. That way I have info in the console on what is
happening. Since I had activated the calmav plugin, I catched a message
telling me that the clamav database was one week old!!
I did a console freshclam and it ran fine.
I checked the /var/log/freshclam.log file only 2 days after and as
expected it said that no update had been done for one week but
strangely enough after the "manual" run of freshclam the updates
happened every three hours. And since then every 3h ...
My questions are :
is it normal ?
if so, where in the doc is it written that one has to launch manually
freshclam to initiate its scheduled updating ?
At least it is the way I interpret what happened to me.
Once again everything works fine and it is just to give you bits of
info if of any help.
Pascal
