Hi,

I recently noticed a mail problem and after crawling the logfiles I saw that one of the "performance killers" is clamd(scan). I have a (e.g.) PPT file with a size of 10M and clamdscan takes about 90 seconds to scan it. If I put the file to a ramdisk (OpenBSD, P4 2GHz, 1G of RAM) it still takes 65 seconds. Using $my_favorite_Windows_Desktop_antivirus_software it took about 3 seconds.

I don't want to discuss about performance in general, I would just like to know if this is "normal" and/or if there is a way to tune up that process.

I use 0.88.7

Thanks, Helmut
