The ":AvO8Yh[...]" appears to be the digital signature of the update. I
ungzipped the gzipped portion of the file and it has 41 lines.
Mine is quite an old system (Mandrake Linux 8.2). I was wondering if
anyone else has encountered this error.
Just to follow-up, this system has zlib-1.1.3 installed. It looks like
the EOF behavior has changed in a later version (zlib-1.2.something).
The early versions continue reading whatever is concatenated to the end
of the gzip data stream (checking for another gzip data stream, or
switching to transparent (uncompressed) mode, if necessary). The later
versions stop reading at the end of the gzip data stream.
I'll report it as bug sometime tomorrow unless someone else has beaten
me to it.
