Start clamd (/etc/init.d/clamav-daemon start). Start top in another console, select user clamav (u clamav), and turn on show threads (H). Run 2 (or more) clamdscans in parallel, i.e.: $clamdscan directory& $clamdscan directory& Then see how many times clamd appears in 'top'. Also check MaxThreads in clamd.conf.
