Hi All,

We run ClamAV 0.88.4 under FreeBSD - we just recently moved from 0.88.1 (a little old) to 0.88.4, and have noticed that the memory consumption of the clamd process has gone through the roof.

I saw a couple of fairly recent posts on a similar thread - so we've got fairly 'lax' process limits for clamd - but it's eating over 600Mb after only running a few days.

The machine only has 1Gb of RAM - it was fine before (always had a good couple of hundred megs free for cache etc.) - now it's flirting with death by swap :(

We only use the clamav-milter - I know in the past it's been recommended to run the milter with clamd over a local socket/connection (i.e. not to get the milter to use the library direct) - is this still the case?

Would this buy us anything? (i.e. by not having to have the gargantuan clamd process kicking around?)

Thanks,

-Karl
