Hello all of you
I would like to know if it's possible to setup a "central" Clamd server
that would scan content sent by remote client . I thought i could
achieve this using clamdscan but apparently not!
Maybe I did something wrong... maybe it's just unsupported but I have
found some post on the web discribing situation like this were eg
mailserver use remote clamd.
Does anyone have information about this?
You need to find a way to get the file(s)/Directories you wish to scan
onto the same computer that clamd is running on. You can use milters
(Sendmail and possibly Postfix only), ftp, mounted file systems, scp,
rsync, etc. You don't say if you wish to scan email only, but if this is
the case then you will probably want to go with milters or mounted file
systems (or clustered file systems if you have deep pockets). I use
Sendmail on 5 servers with a single instance of milter-fed ClamAV on a
central server - works fine. Any of the five or all of the five can also
do AV scanning if the central system requires maintenance, or if load
sharing is needed.
