Hi all, I'm running into a very baffling error with freshclam I'm hoping
someone can shed some light on. When I run Freshclam (either from a cron
script or manually from a SU'd account) I get the following error.

relay-01:/# freshclam
ClamAV update process started at Fri Jul 14 14:42:47 2006
SECURITY WARNING: NO SUPPORT FOR DIGITAL SIGNATURES
See the FAQ at http://www.clamav.net/faq.html for an explanation.
WARNING: DNS record is older than 3 hours.
WARNING: Invalid DNS reply. Falling back to HTTP mode.
Reading CVD header (main.cvd): OK (IMS)
main.cvd is up to date (version: 39, sigs: 58116, f-level: 8, builder:
tkojm)
Reading CVD header (daily.cvd): OK
daily.cvd is up to date (version: 1599, sigs: 3634, f-level: 8, builder:
ccordes)

Saying that the DNS record failed and is older than 3 hours, however it
still grabs the the main and daily.cvd updates and when I check with
clamscan I show it's the most current definitions.

relay-01:/var/lib# clamscan -V
ClamAV 0.88.3/1599/Thu Jul 13 22:35:31 2006

My freshclam.conf shows the following relevant information;

DNSDatabaseInfo current.cvd.clamav.net

# Uncomment the following line and replace XY with your country
# code. See http://www.iana.org/cctld/cctld-whois.htm for the full list.
# Default: There is no default, which results in an error when running
freshclam
DatabaseMirror db.us.clamav.net

# database.clamav.net is a round-robin record which points to our most
# reliable mirrors. It's used as a fall back in case db.XY.clamav.net is
# not working. DO NOT TOUCH the following line unless you know what you
# are doing.
DatabaseMirror database.clamav.net

# How many attempts to make before giving up.
# Default: 3 (per mirror)
#MaxAttempts 5

# Number of database checks per day.
# Default: 12 (every two hours)
Checks 48

I am able to resolve all three of the hosts above using dig from a shell on
the local server, and the options are identical to another Debian 3.1 Sarge
server which has no problems.

Anyone have any ideas what could be causing this?
