it clearly is harmful. the mistaken email (which, I have decreed, would have been avoided had the user not top-posted) spent approximately 25MB of the list server's bandwidth (assuming there are about 5k subscribers to the list) It was a small email as well. If you'd like, I can point you to some rather large emails from deep in threads where the entire conversation is top posted, with no trimming. Oh, and the people had those damned silly disclaimers attached as well, which were about 15 lines each. Also, my email client places my cursor at the start of the email as well, but you don't see me top posting. Saying "it's because your cursor goes to the top of the email when you click reply" is a cop-out. That's like saying you're not at fault for getting in a car accident because the gas pedal is RIGHT UNDER YOUR FOOT. I am a firm believer in that all of the world's (and the internet's) problems can be solved by education. Sure, I could let you shoot yourself in the foot, but that bullet might ricochet and hit me, so it's in my best interests to pull the gun out of your hand. -Jeremy -- Jeremy Kitchen ++ [EMAIL PROTECTED] In the beginning was The Word and The Word was Content-type: text/plain -- The Word of Bob.
