Be aware that 'the epoch' means different things to different people.

For clarity, the actual instant here is that moment between the end of
1969 and the start of 1970.  Note also that 32 leap seconds have been
added to UTC since then, which makes UTC _behind_ International Atomic
Time by 32 seconds (and incidentally behind GPS time by 13 seconds).
Another leap second will be added to UTC on 31 December 2005.

All I'm saying is that there aren't exactly 86400 seconds in a day, so
please don't be confused when you do the arithmetic and get an answer
which differs from the one that your OS gives you (whatever it is:).
