Then, to the OP, I would strongly suggest going with this setup, or at least 
testing it.   This was the easiest, cheapest (Management loves that word), 
and most effective method for us to reduce spam, viruses, and all-around 
garbage that went through our mailserver.  As some anecdotal evidence, here's 
a top 10 of our last 5 months virus history, all blocked before they ever 
made it to our exchange server, and since we did this, we've only had the 
damaged files that aren't really viruses picked up by our desktop or server 
AV.
