I have seen this topic a couple of times in the clamav-users list, but
untill the moment no real solution has been published.
Do anyone have any idea on why is the program repeting the sentence:
LibClamAV Warning: Not accepting inputs at the moment
from time to time?
At the same time, no mail can be sent.
I really I'm thinking in going back to the 0.70s versions to see whether
the program works as well as this version did.
The clamav-milter is running with the following options: --dont-wait -
Plo local:/var/run/clamd/clamd.sock
Without explaining all the details of why (just trust me), you have
four options:
0. run 0.85.1 using the --external option
1. upgrade to the latest snapshot out of CVS, which fixes this problem
(but may be unstable for other reasons)
2. fall back to 0.83, which does not have this problem, but may not
catch the latest threats
3. run clmilter_watch in a cron job shortly after your freshclam
cronjob. This can be used to automatically restart clamav-milter
if it rejects connections for too long.
My recommendations depend on your size/requirements:
If you're a large enterprise, you probably need multiple scanning
machines and extreme stability, so combine 0 and 3.
If you're smaller enterprise, you scan on your sendmail machine, so use
just 3.
If you're small and can afford downtime, please use option 1 and report
any problems.
Option 2 isn't really recommended... but I wanted to point out that you
don't have to drop all the way back to 0.70.
Ask again if this isn't clear enough (hard to explain when there are so
many possibilities).
